Will this recipe work without the mayonnaise? Possibly using Italian dressing? Dietitian comment: Yes it should work. Suggest a homemade dressing so you can control the sodium.

ok...WHY is this not CKD friendly?!? and the Homestyle Macaroni salad IS? I see it uses HALF the pasta...but less mayo...is that the difference...you'd need more noodles in this one to 'spread' the fat, calcium and cholesterol around and bring those numbers down per half cup serving? Because the differences in Potassium, Phosphorus and sodium are negligible in the the two recipes for the same serving size and basically the same ingredients... Moderator comment: You are correct. This recipe is CKD and Diabetes friendly. The diet types have been changed. Thank you.
