I added a teaspoon of cumin and the juice of one lime. We had it over jasmine rice, sprinkled with chopped cilantro. What a fantastic taste. So happy with this recipe.

can you use corn tortilla compared to the flour tortilla? Dietitian comment: Yes--the phosphorus is a bit higher but sodium is much lower.

My wife made it pretty much like the recipe and it was great. Next time think we will double the recipe. Delicious!!! Ate garlic toast with it and a small salad.

I skip the flour and fry and just use pork pieces dusted in cornstarch and put it all in the crockpot. I also would add some corn to pump up the veggies. I have fresh chile that has been roasted. No canned chile! Lol

Hello is it possible to get the nutrition info for the flour tortilla used in this recipe because I want to subtract nutrition info from existing recipe. since I can only find flour tortillas with large quantities of sodium Thanks. Dietitian comment: Yes I will email you. Unfortunately most brands of flour tortillas today contain baking powder which increased both sodium and phosphorus. We have a recipe for homemade flour tortillas on DaVita.com under the Bread category. The sodium is only 60 mg for a 6-inch tortilla.

I made this last night and was pleasantly surprised. My husband just started dialysis and I was so burnt out on chicken! I didn't use a slow cooker and changed the recipe by adding half a jar of salsa verde(tomatillos and jalapenos)which added some sodium 150mg per serving. I also used 2 lbs. of pork sirloin. My granddaughter went back for seconds. Tomorrows lunch will be leftovers over steamed rice.

This not a stew. In the southwest it is spelled chile.

This was good! Definately requires a lean cut of pork. I added some celery also for a bit more veggie.

I made this for 'Tasting Day' at our dialysis unit. Convienient as it is a crock pot recipe, unusual, and the patients enjoyed it.

This was really good. I will definitely be making this again. I used a pork roast instead of chops;it was leaner. I added a teaspoon of red chili flakes. The whole family enjoyed.
